Jane Finlay :
garden and landscape design

Jane's design is best described as bold and elegant with a twist of the unexpected; its underlying purpose being to provide landscape spaces for abundant, tamed yet wild, textured planting for long seasonal interest. The whole at all times being both beautiful yet practical, with client fulfilment uppermost.
Jane is most comfortable designing gardens of ± 2 acres down to 'pocket' sized or small city urban spaces. The joy of the latter is that concepts are realised more quickly.
Although Piet Oudolf was an early inspiration as a plantsman for her, she is most often asked to design low maintenance all season plantings. For the former, Jane thinks that that his prairie planting mood can be successfully adapted to smaller gardens with the right conditions.

Despite her extensive horticulture studies, the learning is never done. Other creative sources for her come from architecture, design in general, and art (particularly Impressionism); Jane often uses art as a start point for her garden design concept.
